Earthlight
A place to look at Earth’s water, land and light.
Turn the globe, find a place, and follow the light across its terrain. Explore at your own pace.
Open EarthlightNo installation or account. The first visit loads imagery and data. Allow a moment for the globe to appear.
Turn and move closer
Drag to turn Earth. Scroll or pinch to zoom. On a phone, close Controls to give the globe more room.
Find somewhere
Search a city, a body of water or coordinates. Try Toronto, the Himalaya or a place you know.
Follow the light
Open Controls to compare daylight and night lights, study terrain, or let Ambient mode drift.
Before you explore
A browser with WebGL 2 and hardware graphics acceleration is required. Use Auto quality first, especially on a phone. Loading and smoothness depend on your connection and device.
Earthlight is an artwork. Imagery is dated, terrain is interpreted, and its map readings are context rather than a scientific survey.
Connections and credits
The main artwork uses bundled data without an account or application telemetry. NASA cloud, temperature and fire layers use the internet when selected. Images and Search open Google when clicked.
